Before buying the 9. One paddle has already lost one of the rubber hand grips and the paddle has one starting to split. This was a great first kayak.

I highly recommend for the price and functionality of this boat! I got a red, white and blue one. As for me, I'm no expert either. I have currently made an extension but would rather have the real thing supposing one can be found.

A durable two-piece aluminum shaft features an asymmetrical blade with offset right and left-hand blade adjustment. Ive used the fiberglass version with the same blades and I like the groove in the center, it catches water on the stroke and adds leverage,generating more pull on each one. Ive already recommended it to another paddler. This is a very good paddle for the price. However, you need to know what length you need before going to the store because the sales person that helped me had no idea. Here's how: rest the center of the paddle horizontally on your head. Hold it with both hands, elbows bent to 45 degrees. If you are holding the correst length paddle, your hands will be on the shaft 4 to 5 inches from the start of the paddles. Got a pair of these when I bought two kayaks and PDFs. I thought the deep-cupped drip rings would do a good job of keeping excess water from dripping into the cockpit - WRONG. There's also a deep groove down the centerline of the blades probably for extra stiffness , but I think that also tends to channel water straight down the shaft, making the drip even worse. So, if you want a nice paddle and a soaking, try these. If you want a paddle with a better design and a working drip ring, get something else.

Go buy a rubber driveway squeegee. We bought two from Dicks and were on the water the next day. They are my workhorse paddles when I'm not using my custom made wood paddles. I was pleasantly surprised when I sincere it out. I'm not sure what the deal is with that, but we bought ones that were dent free. Goes in the direction I point her. If you're big like me, get it, if you're not, get it cause I can only imagine how much I'd love it if I were 170 -180 lbs. I was met it will be a good starter boat, but alas, I'm a teacher and buying multiple kayaks is NOT in my budget. We both agree that the Swifty is an incredibly easy boat to operate. I was looking for something similar to the old Victory Blast kayaks and this came north. My 10 YO son took mine out his 2nd day into 1-2 ft surf with no trouble.
